In the Old Harbour
My houseboat is an old cargo ship that was used to transport loads over the Rhine river between Switzerland and Holland.
The boat is from Dutch origin and was built in Alphen aan de Rijn in the year 1907. I bought the boat 8 years ago and renovated it in 2017, on her 110th birthday, into a modern houseboat with all the comforts of this time.
The style of the boat is modern. The boat is located in a interesting cluster of different houseboats that forms a little community on itself. A little village in the heart of Amsterdam.
The area is an interesting piece of old harbour between the oldest part of Amsterdam and the interesting architectural developments on the Oosterdok Island across the water.
